By Kim Yoo-chul Samsung Electronics plans to invest some 4 trillion won (about $3.4 billion) to build a new chip plant in Hawseong, Gyeonggi Province, where its key chip lines are located, Samsung officials said, Friday. Korean stocks opened higher Friday as Wall Street and eurozone markets recovered from an indecisive European summit that sought to handle the continent's fiscal woes, analysts said. The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) moved up 0.64 percent, or 11.55 points, to 1,826.02 in the first 15 minutes of trading. Market bellwether Samsung Electronics jumped 1.22 percent with top automaker Hyundai Motor gaining 0.64 percent.
