election, according to partial results Friday from Egypt's first genuinely
competitive presidential election.

Egyptian people failed on Friday to elect their new president in the first

Electoral authorities still continue to count votes, however 75 percent of
overall votes have been counted in Egypt.

The Muslim Brotherhood made an early show of confidence as vote counting
began in Egypt's landmark presidential election on Thursday, saying its
exit polls showed its candidate in the lead in the race to succeed ousted
leader Hosni Mubarak.
Exit polls by several Arab television stations also suggested the
Brotherhood's Mohammed Morsi was ahead of the pack of 13 candidates.

CAIRO - Egyptians must choose between a Muslim Brotherhood candidate and an
ex-military man in a presidential runoff that highlights the stark rifts in
a nation united in euphoria when Hosni Mubarak fell 15 months ago, first-
round results indicated on Friday.
Nearly complete results showed the Brotherhood's Mohammed Morsi rising into
the second round with a plurality of the votes.
