Greek farmers clash with riot police in pensions protest (28)
Elena Becatoros ATHENS - The Associated Press Greek farmers wielding shepherd's staffs and throwing rocks clashed Friday with riot police in central Athens during a two-day protest against the government's plans to impose new tax hikes and overhaul the pension system. Riot police used tear gas to repel them. Separate clashes broke out on the highways leading into the capital.

Russia has offered its proposals on Syrian ceasefire and expects reaction to them from the International Syria Support Group, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the start of talks with US Secretary of State John Kerry. "We have put forward our proposals on a ceasefire, which are rather concrete," the top diplomat said.
