An Egyptian man accused of hijacking a plane and diverting it to Cyprus has
been sent back from the Mediterranean island to his homeland after a two-
year extradition battle, officials said Sunday.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has announced a ceasefire with Taliban
insurgents to mark the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday, days after fighting in
the central city of Ghazni and a northern province.
Quake rattles southern Costa Rica, Panama; no damage reported (99)
A magnitude 6.0 quake struck southern Costa Rica on Friday, close to the
border with Panama, the U.S. Geological Survey said, but there were no
immediate reports of damages in the two Central American countries.
The quake's epicenter was 19 km (11.7 miles) north of the town of Golfito,
the country's southernmost port and a surfing destination.

SEMBALUN, Indonesia - Strong earthquakes jolted the Indonesian tourist
island of Lombok on Sunday, causing power blackouts, landslides and damage
to buildings, as the island tries to recover from a temblor earlier this
month that killed hundreds of people.
A shallow quake late Sunday evening was measured at magnitude 6.9 by the
U.S.
