THE HAGUE, April 25 (Xinhua) - The chief prosecutor of the International
Criminal Court (ICC), Fatou Bensouda, started a preliminary examination
into Ukraine, the ICC stated on Friday.
The current Ukrainian government had asked the ICC to open investigations
into the alleged crimes committed by ousted president Viktor Yanukovich
against street protesters.
The ICC is based on a treaty, the Rome Statute, joined by 122 countries.
