6 dead, dozens hurt as bomb rocks Istanbul's Istiklal Avenue (56)

A bomb rocked a major pedestrian avenue in the heart of Istanbul on Sunday,
killing six people, wounding dozens and sending people fleeing the fiery
explosion.
Emergency vehicles rushed to the scene on Istiklal Avenue, a popular
thoroughfare lined with shops and restaurants that leads to the iconic
Taksim Square.

A loud explosion sounded Sunday afternoon in the busy shopping street of
Istiqlal in the heart of Istanbul, Turkish media reported, which reported
injuries.  ;

The blast happened shortly after 4:00 p.m.

At least six people have been killed and 53 wounded when an explosion
rocked a busy pedestrian street in central Istanbul.
Ambulances rushed to the scene on packed Istiklal Avenue, which police
quickly cordoned off.
