Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot and gravely injured
while campaigning Friday in southern Japan, officials said.
Abe, Japan's longest-serving prime minister, was giving a speech in the
city of Nara when gunfire was heard around 11:30 a.m.

Friday that absentee ballot drop boxes may be placed only in election

The court did not address the question of whether anyone other than the

to be in grave condition after he was shot at a political campaign event.
Mr Abe was shot at twice while he was giving a speech in the southern city
of Nara on Friday morning.
He immediately collapsed and was rushed to the nearest hospital.
